I love this view, it is almost at the summit of the Grand Mesa. Every year I stop and shoot the subtle changes. When I saw how bad the smog, mostly from western fires, was this year (fall 2006) I almost did not stop, I didn't want to shoot the polluted haze. Then I realized I had to, it needs to be shown...whether to remember how it was, or to remind us how it can be again. You should be able to clearly see mountains ranges that are hundreds of miles from here...this day, even the closer mountains were obscured. Beauty, ugly, and the ugly hiding all the beauty... sad.
